Quality is always the better option in comparison to quantity, but the pairing of the two is a win for all parties involved. As creatives, we aim to use our abilities as often as possible, in opportunities that allow us to create at optimal levels but as we all know, working in situations that undervalue our crafts can be stressful. So ultimately the goal is to work less and make more, you know, "work smarter and not harder", the idiom we are all familiar with.
I have been working towards getting more opportunities in both the lifestyle and travel industries since 2018 got started and through a lot of creating and pitching, I began to have success in these industries. In lifestyle, my approach has always been to stand out from the pack in a way that was unique and one that stayed true to the way I viewed the world. With my work, I have always tried to create with inspiration from the French Realism movement of the late 1800s and of course, a surrealist perspective of the early 1900s. And with that inspiration, there is a large focus on being as raw as possible while keeping creativity and authenticity at the forefront. Staying true to my way and my vision has been important to me since I began creating 5 years ago, a problem a lot of artists have when entering the industry; the battle between increasing income and maintaining artistic integrity is one that most give-in to.
Working with Cloakroom was an opportunity to maintain my integrity while creating quality work. CloakRoom is a newly renewed Gentleman's Club downtown in DC with a great attention to detail and asiration of the highest quality. As you can see from the interior photos, they spent a great deal of time making sure that the aesthetics of the club match the audience they intend to attract and I believe they have succeeded in those hopes. In talking with the Marketing team, I am excited to continue working with them because of the ability to maintain integrity. They loved the rawness of my photos and the way I choose to portray women, not sexually but in a subtle and sensual manner. (You will see me talk more about this in coming weeks). All-in-all, check out the photos below and be on the lookout for more.
