the opinion that you have about yourself
psychology : a part of the mind that senses and adapts to the real world
As humans, we have a tendency to get lost in our ego. By definition the ego is seen as our tether to reality but with the willpower of man combined with our vast imaginations, often times our egos are what separate us from that same reality. Our egos have the ability to distract us from the truth by adding "self" to what otherwise would appear to be selfless situations.
I've found that self-evaluation helps me to remain aware of my ego and the effect it has on my actions. I try to remain free from it's chokehold in attempts to transcend my current state as much as possible. Each day, our goal should be to become better than the last and becoming lost in the ego can hinder such progression. We all have in us, the ability to be great once we realize that pride and ego only slow as down as a species.
